Robert Presthus, was a Political Science Professor at Cornell University. He was a well known researcher and writer in the field of Political
Science: Interest Group Studies. Robert Presthus wrote a book in 1962 called “The Organizational Society.”, Presthus
believed that we live in an "organizational society" and that people build their lives around organization,
meaning that the characteristics of an organization are implemented into the culture outside. This society
differs from a traditional society which is where the family is still the basis of economic structure. Because of the
reliance on the family, the traditional society has a different set of
characteristics than that of the organizational society. They each value different things.
