Nanus is a Professor of Management at the University of Southern California and
an independent consultant.† As a
leadership/management consultant, Nanus places a great emphasis on the importance of vision in an organization. He states
that having a vision is so important for an organization because it jump starts talent, energy and the desire for great
things to occur. A visionary leader is someone who can create the vision, share it with the organization, have
the organization become committed to the vision and then make it a reality creating changes in the organization.
Mission statements in organizations are good but often too general but with a vision strategies can be developed
allowing the organization to create its own opportunities.
